Round Robin Photo Challenges: Landmarks

The Round Robin challenge this time around
was to photograph a landmark.
I chose to do a few from around the South Bay.
First up is the Hermosa Beach Pier.
This is the most simple of the South Bay piers.
Manhattan Beach has the round house.
Redondo Beach has all the shops, restaurants and various walkways.
Of course, there are all the bars and restaurants
and shops on the adjacent walk street.
But the pier itself is just a pier.

Of course, I had to include my favorite bridge.
This is the Vincent Thomas Bridge over L.A. Harbor.
I have a simple daytime shot, as well as a more
abstract nighttime shot of the bridge lights.

This was taken at King Harbor in Redondo Beach.

This is the fountain at Malaga Cove Plaza in Palos Verdes Estates.
He stands guard over The Hill.

All of these pictures were taken on the same
day (Jan17), except the bridge lights.
That is an old favorite from a few months ago.

If I can get access to a negative scanner today,
I will post a bonus shot I took several years ago when
I was into 35mm black and white and was
developing and printing my own stuff.

Hi Jill :)

I really like the photos you chose for the challenge, the black and white shot under the pier is striking. :)The statues are very well done, the lighting is so unique. :) I enjoyed this entry very much. :)

Always, Carly

I'm impressed. As many times as I've been to L.A., I've never been there.

I've never been to L.A. and only been to the Pacific Ocean a couple times. The pier shots were wonderful! Thanks for taking me there.

I like the third photo, the black and white under the bridge the best. Nice selections of photos overall.

Oh, there's a lot to like here. Great variety! I love the second and third pier shots, looking at what's underneath. Also the second and third shots of Poseidon/Neptune are great, especially the third one with the sun behind him. Classic!

Nice pictures, I have never been to California. Your pictures give me a flavor of some your area. I especially like the pier and statue pictures.

The bridge and the statues are very impressing is this in Los Angeles ? I am not sure because you didn't really indicate the location.

Thanks all for the nice comments.

Gattina: These all were taken in an area of Los Angeles called the South Bay. It is just south of Los Angeles Airport and stretches down along beaches, a peninsula, around to L.A. Harbor and inland to include several different cities.

I had forgotten the fountain at Malaga Cove. It's been a while since I've been to PV. Thanks for bringing all those good memories back. Great photos, all of them

I agree with the others, the black and white from under the pier is really exceptional. And what a spectacular fountain! Thanks for sharing these.
